I heard of the London Bengali Wedding Fair last year but didn't realise how big it was until I attended their show on Sunday. It was held at the Royal Regency in East London and entry was free to all. Upon entry, I was greeted by friendly staff members and immediately started walking around to see what LBWF had to offer. The room was grand with a huge and beautifully decorated catwalk stage surrounded with stall holders. This also extended to the balcony with more stall holders and a private viewing area which was reserved for the catwalk show later in the afternoon.
As a Bangladeshi, it was really refreshing to see a room filled with Bengali-run businesses and customers. It's not every day you see our community get together to celebrate our culture and heritage - especially on such a big scale as this. And what's more enlightening is the organiser and CEO, Suhana Ahmed, is very supportive of new and smaller businesses. This gives everyone with a business an equal chance to shine on such a huge regional platform.
With the help of my husband snapping away with the camera, we were both able to walk around speaking to most of the stall holders. Here are some of the businesses I met:

I went to the event with no expectations and walked away inspired and proud of our community. Having spoken to the stall holders, they were pleased with the event and are keen to exhibit again next year.
Unfortunately I had to leave right before the catwalk show started but I managed to see it via Instagram Live and all I can say is I am gutted to have missed it! Massive well done to the LBWF team!
